New Honda Parts Plant in Thailand Comes on Line

The plant initially will operate a polymer-injection line to manufacture front consoles for Honda’s City and Jazz models. But it soon will begin producing polymer-injection parts for other Honda assembly plants in Asia and Oceania.

Honda begins parts manufacturing at its new plant in Prachin Buri, Thailand, calling it one of its most technologically advanced and most eco-friendly production facilities in Asia.

The plant, 100 miles (160 km) east of Bangkok, has the same state-of-the-art production innovations used at Honda’s Yorii plant in Japan, which was designed with the concept of “producing the cleanest products at the cleanest plant.”

The new plant initially will operate a polymer-injection line to manufacture front consoles for Honda’s City and Jazz models. But it soon will begin manufacturing polymer-injection parts for other Honda assembly plants in Asia and Oceania.

The line has a production capacity of more than 360,000 units annually.

Honda Thailand Chief Operating Officer Pitak Pruittisarikorn says the plant will soon be fully operational, including engine production and completely built-up assembly.

The facility, he says, “efficiently shortens the time used in every process of production, from body welding and paint work to final assembly of the vehicles as well as introduction of a recycled-water system to every production process for water saving.”
