With all of the actual and potential recalls plaguing the auto industry recently it's a wonder there's one left to call the car of the year. Yet several are being named. First Motor Trend magazine selects the Dodge Caravan as its 1996 car of the year. Then The Car Book and Consumers Digest name the Saab 900 and 9000 series best in their respective classes. Not to be out done by the American press, a British publication called Autocar names the Mini, now offered by Rover, as its car of the century. What's next, the Jenny Jones Show unveiling the Dysfunctional Family Car of the Year?
