BMW veteran Johann Wolf joins the automaker’s Rolls-Royce marque as director of manufacturing.
Wolf has spent his 41-year career with the BMW Group, leading teams in all aspects of production.
In his current role, which he has held since 2013, he has been responsible for integrating all new products into the largest BMW Group manufacturing plant in Europe at Dingolfing.
Wolf also has expertise in small-volume manufacturing, including the development of prototype parts, bespoke production and the handcraftsmanship of individual components, which began with his apprenticeship at BMW starting in 1977.
He specializes in modern technologies and materials, including the integration of carbon fiber into the production process.
Wolf led the parts-development teams for the BMW Formula 1 team, BMW Motorsport for M vehicles and the BMW individual personalization program.
He takes up his Rolls-Royce role Nov. 1 and will be based at the automaker’s head office and manufacturing plant at Goodwood, West Sussex, U.K. Wolf takes over from Frank Ludwig, who becomes director of painted body at BMW Group Plant Regensburg on Dec. 1.
