Peugeot Setting Up Pakistan Sales, Production Operations

The region, long seen as too great a terrorism risk for most Western automakers to approach, will see the Peugeot brand working in exclusive partnership with Lucky Motor Corp. in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city.

French automaker Peugeot launches sales and production operations in Pakistan to become the first European manufacturer in the country.

The region, long seen as too great a terrorism risk for most Western automakers to approach, will see the Peugeot brand working in exclusive partnership with Lucky Motor Corp. in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city. The partnership hopes to create state-of-the-art assembly facilities.

The first step of the partnership will begin with the introduction of the locally built Peugeot 2008. Local production of the Peugeot e-2008 BEV also is being considered.

The partnership has commenced with the opening of eight dealerships, offering sales, aftersales and servicing, in six cities: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Gujranwala.

Linda Jackson, CEO of the Peugeot, says: “This will be the first time a European car is assembled in Pakistan and we are excited to work with Lucky Motors to support employment, localization and the local automotive industry in the country. “Internationalization is a key focus for Peugeot with the B- and C-segment SUV growth in Pakistan, representing a great opportunity for us. This is also bolstered by the evolution of the legislation of the country towards electrification which is fully in line with our own strategy.”
