GFG Style Unleashes Kangaroo at Geneva

After a shakedown on the Alps at St. Moritz with social-streaming coverage on March 2, the Kangaroo, a one-off, all-electric hyper-SUV, has been unveiled at the Geneva auto show.

GENEVA – “Just like a kangaroo, it rises up, springs into action, jumps from one terrain to another and is fast, very fast indeed!”

This is how Fabrizio Giugiaro likes to introduce the latest concept car from GFG Style, the automotive design studio he founded in 2015 with his father, Giorgetto.

After a shakedown on the Alps at St. Moritz with social-streaming coverage on March 2, the Kangaroo, a one-off, all-electric hyper-SUV, has been unveiled here at the Geneva auto show.

It comes with the architecture of a 2-seater sport coupé and doors consisting of two mobile parts, the lower opening scissor-like and upper part (windows and roof) lifting up in gull-wing fashion.

It is powered by two electric motors providing all-wheel-drive traction via 22-in. wheels with tires custom made by Pirelli.

The electrified powerplant, developed in association with CH Auto, is hosted by a carbon-fiber cell integrated into a purpose-engineered spaceframe that houses the 180-kW motors front and rear.  The body panels also are carbon fiber whereas the wings and windshield are in lightweight polycarbonate.

At 181.1 ins. (4,600 mm) long and 78.7 ins. (2,000 mm) wide, the Kangaroo can be fast and stable on the track with its ground clearance reduced to 4.7 ins. (120 mm) or can cross dunes and rocky terrain with the height increased to 10.2 ins. (260 mm), via the intermediate 7.5-in. (190-mm) adjustment for ride comfort on regular roads.

In its second year at the Geneva show, GFG Style has gained a larger area near top automakers including Toyota, Renault and Nissan and will present both the running prototype and full-scale model developed for design research and tuning.

Kangaroo features 2-part doors.
