Low-viscosity oil improves fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, manufacturer says.

Low-Viscosity Oil Formulated for JLR Vehicles

Special Tec LR 0W-20 is officially approved by Jaguar Land Rover for use in the latest gasoline engines in Jaguars and Land Rovers, and is not suitable for any other models.

German oil and additive specialist Liqui Moly announces the North American introduction of Special Tec LR 0W-20, a low-viscosity motor oil formulated especially for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.

“The two brands used to simply follow the oil specifications of the former owner Ford, but since 2014 they have gone their own way here, which takes them ever further away from Ford,” Oliver Kuhn, deputy head of the oil laboratory at Liqui Moly, says in a news release.

Special Tec LR 0W-20 is officially approved by Jaguar Land Rover for use in the latest gasoline engines in Jaguars and Land Rovers and is not suitable for any other models.

The trend toward less-viscous motor oils as a contributor to lower fuel consumption and emissions can be found in all car markets, Liqui Moly says. A thin oil can be more easily pumped and has less inside resistance, which means better engine performance.

“0W-20 is a particularly low-viscosity motor oil,” Kuhn says.

Besides less-viscous oils, Liqui Moly notes there is a trend toward more-specialized oils. That means the variety of oil types will continue to rise, making it more difficult for garages and motorists to choose the proper oil. Liqui Moly offers a free online oil guide at www.liqui-moly.us to aid in making that choice.

“Liqui Moly is proud to be the main motor oil for more and more service shops,” says Sebastian Zelger, director-Liqui Moly USA. “As many shops see growth potential by serving niche markets as well, Liqui Moly continues to provide specific oils for cars such as Land Rover and Jaguar models.”
