Mobile Mechanics Provide Auto Repairs at Home or Office

“Our business model addresses this issue by bringing car repair to your house and scheduling it based on your convenience,” FixMyCar founder Prashant Salla says.

A mobile mechanic service in Detroit, Dallas and Houston provides auto repairs at the customer’s home or office.

FixMyCar, rolling out soon in Austin, TX, and other major metropolitan areas, is designed to counter the inconveniences that come along with what a Harris Poll found was the average $397 a year a person spends on vehicle repairs and maintenance.

“Traditionally, automotive repair is a big hassle for most people because scheduling an appointment, getting a ride home and being without transportation is extremely inconvenient,” Prashant Salla, founder of FixMyCar, says in a news release. “Our business model addresses this issue by bringing car repair to your house and scheduling it based on your convenience.”

The service uses certified mechanics and offers flexible service hours with extended business hours and weekend availability. And because the mobile service model has little overhead, services can be offered for 20% to 30% less than those at dealerships and repair shops while still providing mechanics with significantly higher salaries, the release says.

All FixMyCar repairs and services come with a 24-month or 24,000-mile (38,600-km) warranty on parts and labor. Available services include diagnostics, battery and starter replacement, brake and light engine repairs, routine maintenance such as oil changes, and used-car inspections when buying a used car.

Prashant Salla FixMyCar.jpegFixMyCar is launching an annual membership program designed to save customers more money and give them peace of mind when it comes to car repair and maintenance. Planned services include towing, washing, buying, and selling and renting cars from the customer’s driveway, all of which will be handled through the company’s MyCar Marketplace.

“FixMyCar is a managed tech marketplace that aims to bring complete transparency and convenience to car repair by sending a certified mechanic to the car owner’s doorsteps,” Salla (pictured, left) says. “We do background checks, certification verifications, soft skills screening, and ensure cultural fit when we hire mechanics.

“It’s a unique experience when you can talk to the mechanic outside your house, ask questions about your car and get maintenance or driving tips,” he says. “This changes the way people think about car repair and empowers them to take control of their vehicle’s health.”

Salla founded FixMyCar in 2018, six years after arriving in the U.S. from India, where he was working as a $100-a-month mechanic while studying mechanical engineering in college.
