J.D. Power's latest acquisition expands its F&I and software-analytics offerings.

J.D. Power Acquires Tail Light, a Leading Software Company

The latest acquisition becomes part of J.D. Power’s Dealership Technologies division, formed in July 2021.

J.D. Power has acquired Tail Light, a leading automobile software company, that further strengthens its rapidly growing F&I and software-analytics offerings.

Just last year, J.D. Power acquired Superior Integrated Solutions/Darwin Automotive. Both are now part of J.D. Power’s Dealership Technologies division, formed in July 2021. The moves were meant to offer tools for dealers to meet the growing demand for digital menu solutions and special offers to consumers, whether they make deals in showrooms or online, says Phil Battista, president of Dealership Technologies for J.D. Power.

“Similarly, demand has grown for analytics and reporting solutions that allow dealers to optimize their F&I offerings,” Battista says in a statement. “We are solidifying our role as an end-to-end data-analytics and software solutions provider to all facets of the automobile industry.”

J.D. Power notes Tail Light’s products include Tail Light Showcase, which provides personalized, customer-focused tools to select vehicle financing and protection options.

“Dealerships have become sophisticated, data-driven enterprises that rely on real-time analytics, competitive benchmarking and powerful software to deliver the optimal customer experience while maximizing profitability,” Matt Twyman, CEO of Tail Light, says in a statement. “We have been committed to driving the technology transformation with the industry’s best software and analytics.”
