EV, Hybrid Training Courses Heavily Attended

“There is definitely an appetite across Allianz Partners, the IVR and the industry to run more of these training sessions, which we hope to be able to run early in 2019,” an Allianz executive says.

An electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid training course for the U.K.’s independent roadside vehicle recovery operators attracts an overwhelming response.

The courses, offered by insurance company Allianz Partners and the Institute of Vehicle Recovery (IVR), were quickly oversubscribed.

The courses were completed over six days in six locations around the U.K., helping recovery operators get up to speed in the awareness of alternative-propulsion vehicles.

Numbers were restricted to 12 people per venue, with each operator invited to send one person.

The Allianz Partners Network Team led by Technical Training Manager Mike Donley provided the EV, hybrid and PHEV training offered to all of its recovery operator agents on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We’ve had an incredible response to these training days from independent recovery professionals who were hungry to gain invaluable insight into hybrid and EV technology,”

Allianz U.K. Network Manager Mark Debenham says in a statement.

Participants were given hands-on practical experience with two plug-in hybrid vehicles, a Mitsubishi Outlander and Volvo S90.

“EV and hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, and our course aims to help recovery professionals keep up with the latest developments in the industry,” Debenham says.

“There is definitely an appetite across Allianz Partners, the IVR and the industry to run more of these training sessions, which we hope to be able to run early in 2019, giving even more technicians the EV confidence they need at the roadside.”
