’19 Chevy Silverado Sees Pricing Drop on Volume Model

The nameplate’s volume LT model sees its suggested retail price drop $700 to $40,795 for the 2-wheel-drive crew cab/short box.

Large pickups are enjoying all-time-high demand in the U.S. and the ’19 Chevrolet Silverado is expected to capitalize on the environment, although General Motors wants to keep a lid on price increases for the redesigned model.

While starting price on the posh High Country model, which occupies the top of the Silverado range in the crew-cab and short-box body style exclusively, rises $1,000 to $54,495 for 2-wheel-drive versions, the nameplate’s volume LT model sees its suggested retail price drop $700 to $40,795 for the 2-wheel-drive crew cab/short box. Pricing includes destination fees.

The High Country pricing includes a standard 6.2L V-8 and 10-speed automatic transmission, while the LT model at that price point receives GM’s all-new 2.7L 4-cyl. gasoline turbo with an 8-speed gearbox.

The 2.7L turbo-4 will make 310 hp and 348 lb.-ft. (640 Nm) of torque. It is the first 4-cyl. for a GM large pickup. EPA fuel-economy estimates are due later this year. Maximum towing capacity is 7,200 lbs. (3,266 kg), while payload is rated at a peak 2,280 lbs. (1,034 kg).

GM will offer its 4.3L V-6 as standard equipment in the Work Truck, Custom and Custom Trail Boss trim levels, with the 5.3L V-8 as optional. The 5.3L V-8 also will be available with LT and RST trims, with the latter receiving the turbo-4 as standard equipment. Silverado LTZ models can be ordered with the top-of-the-line 6.2L V-8.

The 6.2L V-8 is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

An all-new 3.0L turbodiesel inline 6-cyl. will be available on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country models. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic. Power numbers, towing and payload capacities and fuel-economy estimates will be released later.

Every Silverado model for ’19 will be available with the Z71 Off-Road Equipment Package, which adds items such as factory-installed 2-in. (51 mm) lifted suspension, Rancho monotube shocks and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires, electronic hill-descent control, 2-speed transfer case and automatic locking rear differential, skid plates for engine-oil-pan and transfer-case protection, a heavy-duty air filter, 18-in. wheels and dual-exhaust outlets for models equipped with a V-8.

The least expensive Silverado is the Work Truck, which starts at $29,795 for a 2-wheel-drive model in the regular-cab/long-bed body style.

Due at Chevy dealers in the fall, the new Silverado is bigger than the outgoing model in every dimension, but a lightweight materials strategy shaves off up to 450 lbs. (204 kg). Towing and payload also increase on nearly every model.
