NEW YORK, June 24 (Reuters) - Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. said on Monday it was extending its offer for TRW Inc. , the Cleveland-based defense and auto parts company, by one more week to June 28.
So far, owners of 3.31 million TRW shares, or only 2.6 percent, have agreed to accept Northrop's $53 per share offer.
The $6.7 billion hostile offer was due to expire on Friday. Northrop is studying TRW's books to find whether it would like to raise its offer for TRW. TRW is also studying a parallel break-up plan.
Northrop has been studying TRW's books for nearly two months.
