Bentley names Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles CEO Wolfgang Schreiber as its new chairman and CEO, effective Sept. 1.

He takes over from Wolfgang Durheimer who, as part of an extensive structural and management realignment within Volkswagen Group, becomes the member of the board of management for technical development at Audi.

Schreiber, an engineering graduate, joined VW Group in 1984. He was made head of transmission and drivetrain development at the Volkswagen brand in 1996.

He moved to Bugatti Engineering in 2003 as technical director and later managing director of the supersportscar maker over the following eight years.

Schreiber has been the member of the board of management of VW Commercial Vehicles responsible for development since September 2006 and additionally was named speaker for the board of management in February 2010.

Since joining Bentley in February 2011, Durheimer has overseen the introduction of the new Bentley Continental GT model line with the coupe and convertible and V-8 generation, as well as development of the EXP 9 F luxury-performance SUV concept that had its world premiere at the Geneva auto show earlier this year.

Schreiber pledges to work hard to bring the Bentley SUV from concept stage into series production and establish a third successful model line for the auto maker.
