Lighting-Systems Maker Varroc Acquires Turkish Firm

The transaction gives Plymouth, MI-based Varroc manufacturing and production capacity with a 107,640-sq.-ft. manufacturing and technology center near Istanbul and a new plant under construction in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria.

Varroc Lighting Systems, a global supplier of exterior vehicle lighting systems, announces it has acquired Sa-ba Automotive, a privately held company headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. Terms and conditions are not being disclosed.

The transaction gives Plymouth, MI-based Varroc manufacturing and production capacity with a 107,640-sq.-ft. (10,000-sq.-m) manufacturing and technology center near Istanbul and a new plant under construction in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. The 215,280-sq.-ft. (20,000-sq.-m) Bulgaria plant will give Varroc expanded and scalable production capacity for European customers.

Sa-ba Automotive has more than 40 years of experience in interior and exterior small lighting products, the release says.

The acquisition of Sa-ba Automotive is the sixth business initiative in the past 16 months that directly supports the expansion of Varroc’s global product portfolio and manufacturing and engineering footprint, the company says in a news release. Varroc is establishing a manufacturing and product-development base in Morocco and recently opened new locations in Brazil, Japan, and Poland.

Additionally, Varroc recently opened an expanded Lighting Development Center in Ostrava, Czech Republic, as well as expanded manufacturing capabilities in Hanoi, Vietnam.

With the Sa-ba acquisition, Varroc expands its global presence to 17 countries on five continents.
