Cadillac was the only real blemish on November for General Motors, which saw sales jump 10.7% daily on volume of 225,818, according to WardsAuto data. There was one more selling day this year (25) than in like-2013.
GM says the Black Friday-boosted performance marked its best November in seven years, driven by strong results from Buick (up 32.1%) and GMC (27.7%). Volume division Chevrolet also was in positive territory, gaining 7.3% daily, largely due to strong showings from its Cruze, Spark and Sonic small-car trio and Silverado pickup.
Cadillac posted a 15.4% decline, with only the Escalade fullsize SUVshowing any traction against year-ago.
Among the highlights in GM’s November results:
- Chevrolet delivered 2,366 Colorado pickups in the month, and the truck remains in tight supply, with only 21 days’ inventory on dealer lots.
- GM says average transaction prices improved for the 26th straight month, reaching a record $35,600 per unit. The automaker attributes the gain to its pickups, SUVs and Cadillac models.
- The Chevrolet Silverado, up 29.4%, and GMC Sierra, gaining 63.2%, appear to be holding ground in the hotly competitive fullsize pickup market.
- Fleet sales rose 11%, with commercial sales up 1%. Fleets accounted for 22.3% of sales in the month, below the automaker’s 24.5% rate year-to-date.
- GM ended the month with 794,411 units in inventory, an 88-day supply. That compares with 792,489 and 94 days at the end of October.
